I call this time of year “The Quarter of Regret” because inevitably come January 1st when we make our new plan for the year we say, “Oh it’s been a rough few months of parties and sweets.” What if at the end of December you could say, “I just finished a purification program and I feel great! Ready to start the new year fresh!”

According to Statista.com, the second most popular New Year’s Resolution for 2018 after “save money” was….. you guessed it, LOSE WEIGHT. This makes sense considering 1 in 3 American adults have prediabetes or diabetes today. In an office of 6 people that’s 2 of you, in an office of 30 that’s 10 of you! That’s rather shocking since the co-morbidities (other conditions that accompany diabetes) are conditions such as:

  1. Kidney disease
  2. Eye disease
  3. Heart disease (double the risk!)
  4. Fatty liver
  5. Obesity
  6. Poor healing
  7. High blood pressure
  8. Insulin resistance (5 times the risk!)
  9. Dementia
  10. Inflammation & pain

So “losing weight” is actually more like “staying healthy.” The FDA Commissioner stated:

“Improving the nutrition and diet of Americans would be another transformative effort toward reducing the burden of many chronic diseases, ranging from diabetes to cancer to heart disease. The public health gains of such efforts would almost certainly dwarf any single medical innovation or intervention we could discover.” ~Scott Gottlief 2018

There are many ways to begin to take action on getting your blood sugar under control (and lose weight along the way) and you don’t have to wait for the new year.
